My grants at a glance
My grants in 2002-2015: for both my lab and my collaborators
The external grants obtained to carry my research in 2002-2015. In most years, I managed more than one grant. The peak was in 2011-2014, leading 2 large consortia (13 + 8 Partners).
Seventeen grants worth about € 4.5 MLN
The total number (left) and value (right) of external grants obtained in 2002-2015. Grants supported either my research unit (red) or consortia (i.e. at least one other partner).
Two dozen years as unit leader and one dozen years as coordinator of 2 small and 2 large consortia
Each grant had its distinct objectives, activities and outputs; so the sum of the experience from my grants amounts to more than 3 decades (left). I have been responsible of two grants for bilateral cooperation (Interreg Italy-Slovenia 2000-2006, blue, and Italy-Slovenia scientific and technological cooperation 2006-2009, funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, red). I have been the coordinator of two R&I networks funded by Cross-border Cooperation programme Italy-Slovenia 2007-2013 (EU funds), i.e. Trans2Care, green, and Innov-H2O, purple.
Grants for research and something else: cooperation with other countries, with industry and to learn innovation
The scope of grants was research only, research with industry (agrifood) and research & innovation. Six out 17 grants were meant at developing cooperation with foreign countries.
The main investment was in research jobs
Research jobs funded by competitive research grants. The total duration of post-doc contracts was of nearly 2 dozens years.
Twenty-one post-doctoral positions have been created to implement two large projects funded by the Cross-border Cooperation Programme Italy-Slovenia 2007-2013 (i.e. Trans2Care and Innov-H2O), that I have coordinated. Four of them have worked in my Department (three in my lab). The remaining 18 post-doctoral researchers have worked with the projects’ Partners, where they have done technological training. I have, however, coordinated their training in innovation and technology transfer. IMPORTANT: As of 30.09.2015, 100% of Trans2care and Innov-H2O researchers are employed in R&D (87% and 100%, respectively, in the Programme Area).
